Felt pretty good going into the workout today. First tempo felt really relaxed and well within my comfort zone. The hills were fast but felt very controlled. I started feeling my calves tighten up toward the end of the hill repeats so I was a little cautious going into the 2 mile run back. After the first few minutes, I felt fine, so I started to push the pace a little. I was aggressive going up the hill and felt strong but was definitely a little tired once I got to the top. Fortunately, the last mile or so was all a steady decline so I was able to just coast and cruise in at a solid pace. Tonight was probably my last hard workout before nationals so I figured going a little harder at the end would be good. After tonight, the next week and a half will just be smooth sailing going into the race. I just need to make sure I get plenty of rest, eat right, and don't do anything stupid. If I can do that, there's no reason I can't accomplish the goals I've set for that race.
