Ready or not, here I come

Saturday, October 27th

8:00 AM - 5 Miles, 35 min
Strides after (in spikes)
Franklin Park

Well, the long wait for the start of my racing season is over and my first cross race will begin in a little over 12 hours. I ran the course this morning to re-familiarize myself with it and test out the conditions. With all the rain, it looks like the course will be pretty soft tomorrow and with all the races both today and tomorrow before our race, I'm sure it will be a little torn up by the time we get on it. Though the times may not be blistering, I'm still planning on putting myself out there in position and hope to mix it up with some pretty good guys. I've been having some good workouts lately, but it's still hard to tell where my fitness is at right now, which means I may have to adjust my efforts in either direction as the race unfolds tomorrow. I have some times and places floating around in my head but without knowing the field depth, the effect of the rain, or how I'll feel out there, I really don't have any specific time or place goals for tomorrow. The only goal right now is to race my ass off and find out where I'm at. Also, find out what I need to improve on over the next 3-6 weeks for my next two races. For now, all I can do is rest up and get ready to run hard... really hard.
