So things have been going ok. Other than a tough loss recently, my body has been holding up with the increase in mileage and intensity. The good news is I haven't had any pain in my heel or patella over the last few days, which is great. However, I am having some recent trouble with my right hip flexor. It started tightening up on me at the end of monday's run but I didn't think too much of it. Then I felt it all through the workout on tuesday so even though the workout was fairly easy, my legs were not feeling great. Today, I started the run VERY SLOW and let things loosen up a bit before I started picking up the pace a little more in the last few miles. The legs were still pretty heavy so I kept the pace moderate and cut the run short of what I had planned. I'm trying to tend to it more now and see how it feels tomorrow. I'm not overly concerned about this and it's something I can deal with but it's just another annoyance that I'd rather do without. I guess with the work I've been doing, I can't expect everything to feel great everyday, so I just have to keep rolling with the punches and hopefully see the benefits later on.
Quote of the Day:
"This is the point where it gets interesting, you sort of ride the line just below being injured (hopefully), and I personally am lucky if I have two runs a week where I actually enjoy myself. This is what it takes to compete in the trials though, and most of the guys are willing to do it, I just hope we can walk in ten years."
