15 min warmup - Trails

Train tracks to puddle duck farm and back (Trainers)
15 min cool down - Trails
Total = 8 Miles

So I had to work at 10AM and figured if I left the house at 7AM, I'd have enough time to finish my workout, shower, and get to work in plenty of time. I hit the alarm at 6:30 and rolled over for an extra 5 minutes of pillow time ...only when I rolled back to my clock it was now 7:30. I thought for a few seconds and considered waiting until after work to do it but insisted on getting my ass over to lincoln and get it all done and over with. I rushed over to lincoln and measured 2 miles on the road that I could do a good solid tempo on. This ended up being about half pavement, half dirt. I did a quick warmup, about 5 min of stretching, a couple strides and got out for the tempo. I wasn't feeling great but was determined to fulfill my workout goals of a 5:20ish pace and stay relaxed. Since I measured it with my car, I'm not sure how accurate it was but I think I was fairly close. I felt better and more relaxed in the last 2 miles which was good so I just tried to maintain the pace I had in the first two. As I finished up my rushed cooldown, I was tempted to hang around and talk with the rest of the team that was just showing up for the 9am practice but I had to limit myself to 5 min of stretching and get my but home so I could open the store on time. After taking a 2 min shower and grabbing a banana and nature valley bar for breakfast, I was able to get to work at 10:02 and open the store pretty much on time.

Overall, I was fairly happy with the workout. I wasn't feeling great but was still able to average just over 5:20s which was good for my first tempo back. I think as I get into more workouts with the team, things will feel better and my fitness will progress. Right now, I'm gonna go spend some time with the roommates and then take a nice restful sunday before I step up the mileage/intensity next week.
