Much like this blog has been lately, there are many aspects of my life that are currently "in the works". First of all, let's talk training. I am continuing to chug along cautiously and have yet to get my mileage up over 50. This is partly due to time constraints with lots going on, partly due to motivation struggles, and partly due to the fact that my body is slowly adapting to volume and intensity again. My workouts have been going smoothly as I continue to pace Jenn and Laura through whatever they have on tap. It's actually been a good fit for me at this stage in my training, and until Kevin and I come up with a more specific training plan, I'll continue to fulfill these pacing duties. It felt good to drop the pace down a little in the workouts this week and continue to be impressed by how easily Jenn stays with me. It says very good things for her fitness, but not so much for mine. I'll admit that while feeling in control in those 1000s on Friday, my heart rate was definitely getting up there. I was slacking on the extra stuff this week and need to make sure I stay on top of that in the future. Specifically, I need to get in some more icing after workouts to make sure I'm recovering well and not letting any nagging ailments get away from me.

Moving onto other things that have kept me pretty busy this week outside of work and training. I was again asked to help out with FloTrack this week, this time for the Boston Indoor Games. Since I am a strong supporter of both the BIG and FloTrack, I was happy to help out. We spent the whole weekend getting various content from the athletes and we've gotten most of the interviews posted already. We spent a lot of time with the High School Milers on Friday, along with the Elites, so you'll probably see a compilation of that sometime this week.

To finish up the weekend, we spent most of Sunday morning with Kara and Alberto out on the marathon course and got some really good shots of her running the last 20 Miles of Boston. She was joined by Matt Taylor for the entire run and Adam jumped in at the Firehouse to finish the run with them. It will probably be a little while before you see that stuff up, but it should be pretty good. Anyway, it was a really great weekend overall and I made a lot of great contacts with some people that are pretty high up in this sport. I've been privileged to see how this sport operates from many angles over the years, which will hopefully be of assistance to me in the future as I hopefully move closer to my goals as an athlete.

Moving on (no pun intended), my new living situation is also "in the works". I am finally making the official move into the city (well, a lot closer anyway) and will be joined in our new house in Watertown by Karina Johnson and Chris Van Cott. I'm excited about the move, anxious to be closer to my network of friends and teammates. I'll be moving in this Sunday, so if you're in the area, you're welcome to stop by for a visit anytime after that. I'll have to talk it over with the new roomies, but I think a house warming gathering might be on the horizon soon. Here's a picture for your viewing pleasure.

Lastly, I wanted to point out some stellar performances at the US XC Championships / World Trials that were held this weekend in Derwood, MD. NB Boston's own Rebecca Donaghue had a stellar performance giving her a 5th place finish and a spot on the World Team! Kasie Enman of the BAA also had a great performance in 9th place as well as Jess Minty (now of ZAP Fitness) placing 17th and representing Boston very well.

On the Mens side, there were great performances across the board, but I have to give a shout out to my New Mexico friends Jeremy Johnson (who placed 12th) and Jesse Armijo, who cracked the top 20 this weekend just a few weeks after his 24th place/1:05 performance at the Half Marathon Championships.

Some good things all around with hopes of better things to come.

Adam's looking a little, shall we say, not so fit.

That's sweet you got to train with them and help out at the BIG. Keep up the hard work Jeff! Did you see the race in Ireland you ran last year? We need to hit that up next year!
